Two Americans are expected to be arraigned tomorrow charged with association, importation and trafficking of cocaine.

The Americans, who arrived in Malta yesterday on a direct flight from Amsterdam, were caught following a joint operation between the police and the Customs Department.

Further investigations established that another American, aged 20, was also carrying cocaine in his stomach. He was arrested at a hotel in Sliema.

Around a kilogramme of the drug was found.

Yes Mr Smith, drugs kill. One thing leads to another, drug addicts steal, rob and do anything to get their fix, so yes, these two death merchants should be made an example of to send the message home that this is not tolerable in Malta.

I completely agree that alcohol and tobacco (and prescribed pills) are also drugs, and unfortunately many do not think of them as such. However cocaine does kill. Maybe not in in the same obvious way like a heroin overdose however it is responsible for a large number of heart attacks. That apart from the severe paranoia that can (and does) lead to violence, murder or suicide.

We might be naive,m and maybe simpler than you lot, however we do realize that these so called recreational drugs can cause havoc within our families. So thanks but no thanks to these
so called merchants of misery.
Just keep them to yourselves, and enjoy.

These Yanks and others from europe and north Africa take us maltese for idiots or naive, we are a nation in our right and its up to our government to double check whom they let in our little island, its densly populated now as it is and unemployment in Gozo mainly is at the highest, why did these Yanks walked in and try and poison our children with their rubbish they usually have in their country. Something is definitly not coprrect and t5e customs should jump on them and make an example out these Yanks as i am afriad things will just go astray for us Maltese citizens. Every time i read the news and i am not being funny or anything, but 9 out of ten criminals are BL**DY Foreigners. sorry but its a fact.

Quite right especially some of the English or whatever they originate from, stick their nationl flag on their roof top to show us Maltese that they are \British or English or Germans whatever. I like to see a BIG MALTESE flag as this is Malta and my country. Viva Malta Viva Gozo * Don Ghawdex.
