Ray Bondin has been appointed Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Malta to Unesco.

Dr Bondin has a long career in heritage, having set up and coordinated the Valletta, Mdina and Cottonera rehabilitation projects between 1987 and 2007.

Dr Bondin presented his credentials to the director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, Irina Bokova, at Unesco's headquarters in Paris.

The position is non-resident and honorary.
