Two Spanish students, both aged 17, who were about to be sent home for misbehaviour ended up in court today for having vandalised their hotel room and resisted the police.

The court was told that the two boys had been told by their teachers that they were being sent home because of their unacceptable behaviour. They became angry and violent, and one of them damaged furniture in his room and injured his hand in the process.

When the police were called in, they violently resisted the officers, threatened them and disobeyed their orders.

One of the boys was charged with causing €333 in damages to the Coastline Hotel and swearing.

The two boys admitted the charges and were both conditionally discharged for six months The boy who caused the damage was also ordered to pay up within a month,
