Emanuel Bajjada, 57, was condemned to a two-year-jail term suspended for four years and fined €460 after he admitted in court to having trafficked persons for purposes of prostitution, lived off prostitution and having allowed his properties at Adam's Guasthouse in Paceville and Pace's Guest House in Sliema, to be used as brothels.

The case happened in 2005.

The court in its decision observed that Mr Bajjada had been previously condemned to a suspended sentence and a fine of €50,000 and had all his financial assets frozen.

He had also paid €47,000 as a personal guarantee for his son who was charged as an accomplice. The accused had cooperated with the police and promised to give evidence against third parties as required.
