On asking for something as simple as having the police have their presence felt, so as to have some order on the streets of Paceville by night, the newly-appointed Paceville administration were told to "be cautious because not everyone feels comfortable with the idea of having the police just outside their doorstep".
Now, as far as I know, the only people who need feel uncomfortable with the much-needed police in the vicinity are criminals; all others would feel that the area and themselves are finally being somewhat taken care of and protected.
The trouble, I believe, is that it is not only the residents' votes the party is interested in but they are also going to need the lawbreaker's vote come next election. That's the problem, they don't want to make anyone angry but they are: the residents of Paceville feel downright hurt and it's going to take a lot more than fixing the odd pavement to heal the wound.
