Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, 93, was in hospital yesterday after falling out of bed and breaking several bones, her agent said.
"She was watching her favourite show, Jeopardy, when the phone rang. She tried to pick it up and fell," said Ms Gabor's publicist John Blanchette, noting the accident took place late on Saturday at the actress's home in Bel Air, California.
"She broke several bones and she's in serious condition," he said.
The Hungarian-born actress and former beauty queen, who reportedly had a stroke in 2005, was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre. A 2002 car accident left her partially paralysed.
She is married to Prince Frederic von Anhalt, who called the ambulance after his wife's fall.
Her sister and fellow Hollywood actress Eva Gabor achieved fame in the US for her role in the hit television series Green Acres during the 1960s.
