Joint degree with King's College

The University of Malta and King's College London recently signed an agreement for the holding of a joint postgraduate degree in dentistry. Upon successful completion of studies, candidates will be awarded a M.Sc. in Orthodontics jointly by the two universities.

Moreover, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Inter-Collegiate Board of the English and Glasgow Royal Surgical Colleges have approved the programme for awarding of the M.Orth. diploma after completion of specialist training.

The full-time course of studies which is being held both at the University of Malta and at King's College London, is being offered this October and is three years long.

The study programme provides a sound academic basis for orthodontic practice with academic and practical teaching that covers all aspects of orthodontics diagnosis and care including normal development, growth modification, fixed, functional and retaining appliances and the biological principles of orthodontic tooth movement, as well as multidisciplinary treatment involving orthognathic surgery and restorative dentistry.

Studies also include participation in the related research programmes, including laboratory materials investigations, clinical studies and biological investigations.

The study programme complies with the principles of Erasmus and supports the European Union directives on specialisation in orthodontics.
