Updated - New picture - Three men and a boy were rescued from a sinking cabin cruiser which hit a fisherman's cage in the south east of Maltas last night.

The AFM said the emergency developed off the Munxar reef fish farm half a mile from Il-Hoffriet and involved the 30-foot cabin cruiser Zgicca.

The boat issued a distress signal, saying it was taking in water. The Austal-class inshore patrol boat "P-24" and the Vittoria-class rescue-launch Melita-2, were immediately dispatched to the location and rescued the men, who were brought to shore this morning.

The cabin cruiser was salvaged.
