The English Speaking Board (ESB) Young Speaker of the Year Award event was recently held at Thi Lakin School, Attard.
Nineteen students were chosen by the seven ESB assessors to represent their schools at this event, namely The Archbishop's Seminary in Rabat, St Aloysius College in Birkirkara, Sacred Heart Convent Junior School in St Julian's, St Dorothy's Junior School in Żebbuġ, Thi Lakin School in Attard, Garendon School in Żebbuġ, Little Angels School in Birkirkara and Chiswick House School in Kappara.
During the evening, the students gave a sample of their ESB assessment in front of an audience comprising heads and tutors of schools, as well as their parents. The ESB was set up in the UK in 1953 with the aim of giving young people the chance to develop two important communication skills - speaking and listening.
