Travel insurance policy sparks judicial protest against BOV
A travel insurance which does not cover disabled people has been slammed as being discriminatory and led to a judicial protest being filed by the National Commission for Persons with Disability.
The protest was filed against Bank of Valletta, which also acts as an insurance sub-agent. Its travel insurance policy includes a clause that excludes from cover disabled people or people travelling or living with disabled people.
The commission said it had discussed the matter for the past three years, ever since it received complaints about brochures distributed by the bank to promote the product.
However, despite the fact that the bank had understood the commission's arguments and said it would reprint the brochures, the leaflets had not yet been changed.
The commission is now calling on the bank to rectify its position within a month by changing and distributing the correct policy, holding it responsible for any damages incurred.
The judicial protest was filed by lawyer Daniela Mangion and legal procurator Luisa Tufigno.

The commission had discussed this issue for the past 3 YEARS-what's the mad rush and what's to discuss thst is remotely complex or complicated about this blatant act of unjustifiable discrimination?
