President George Abela this morning expressed solidarity with the parents of a 10-year-old girl from Kalkara who passed away last night after being grievously injured at Hal Far Road on July 4.
The parents of Nicole Zahra, both soldiers, were present when life support machines were turned off after having kept the child alive for two weeks.
The accident happened when a Maruti Gypsy she was in, driven by a 45-year-old man from Kalkara, collided with a Hyundai Accent, driven by a 23-year-old man from Żurrieq.
All three were taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima is holding an inquiry.
Meanwhile, the condition of a nine-year-old girl from Hamrun, who was injured while crossing the road with her grandmother at Ghadira on June 29 has now improved and she is out of intensive care.
