Mario Bonello and Alan Zammit departed for Hungary on Wednesday ahead of their participation in the European Masters Championships.

Having clinched a silver medal in the 100m at last year's World Masters Championships in Finland, the in-form Bonello has high hopes of achieving another commendable result in Nyiregyhaza.

The experienced sprinter, who also struck gold in the 200m at last year's World Masters, will compete in the 100m 30-35 age-group tomorrow.

For his part, Zammit, a former national champion, will take part in the 100m heats in the 50-55 age-group today.

Over 55 athletes, including a host of past European champions, are vying for the 100m title in the 50-55 age-bracket.
