I was a passenger aboard the Air Malta flight which departed Heathrow to Malta at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, when about an hour into the flight a young man sitting next to me started suffering from a problem associated with his diabetes.

His female companion remained calm and summoned assistance but I really have to praise the Air Malta cabin crew for the professional manner in which they handled the situation.

In particular, what seemed to be a senior member of the cabin crew sat with the passenger throughout the remaining two hours or so of the journey, spoon-feeding him the necessary “sweeteners” and mopping his brow and wiping his face untilhe had fully recovered while at the same time dealing with requests from his staff and other clearly necessary paperwork and flight safety issues prior to landing.

It was quite a remarkable performance of care and compassion for his passenger and the gentleman concerned deserves every plaudit.
