First Maltese Rizerva wins silver medal

Marsovin has won a silver medal for its Estate wine, Marnisi 2007, at the Challenge International du Vin at Bourg and Blaye, just outside Bordeaux.

Marnisi 2007 is produced from the Marnisi Estate in Marsaxlokk; this vintage was the first Maltese Rizerva ever produced.

The Challenge International du Vin is a prestigious competition which Marsovin competes in occasionally. This year, Marnisi was entered into a category of wines priced between €5 and €12. Marsovin previously won a gold medal in the Challenge International du Vin with its Antonin Blanc.

Marsovin director Jeremy Cassar, commented saying: “We are particularly proud of this result, since this wine competed against other premium wines and faired very well.”

“As the first Maltese Riserva it has a significant meaning to us as winemakers: the real significance of this award is one of acknowledgement. Marsovin knows that it produces high quality wines, yet some Maltese consumers are still apprehensive about Maltese wines. Professional wine tasters in France felt that the quality of this wine was worth a silver medal. This acknowledgement should help convince certain Maltese consumers about the quality of our wines.”

This is the second medal Marsovin has won in the past six months, following its Antonin red winning a gold medal in Italy.
