Rona Galea, 30 of Siggiewi was today imprisoned for two years after she admitted to stealing two bags from Ghajn Tuffieha beach yesterday.

The bags contained two mobile phones worth a total of €765. She was also found guilty of of violating probation conditions imposed by a court on June 15.

Inspector Edmond Cuschieri, prosecuting, said that Ms Galea had told him that she had a drug problem. He sought an effective jail term during which the accused could start a drug rehabilitation programme.

The court in imposing the court sentence, recommended a drug rehabilitation programme.
