My attention has been drawn to a letter which appeared way back on March 8, 2008.

It was then said by Joseph Attard of Sliema that a Bofors gun from 3LAA Regt RMA, firing low on January 16, 1941, hit and destroyed one of the breakwater lighthouses.

On a small point of detail, if the date of the incident is correct, the gun in question could not have been from 3LAA Regt RMA as this unit was only raised later, on March 18, 1941, to be precise.
