Malta on honeymoon test

The honeymoon testers.

The honeymoon testers.

The honeymoon testers are visiting the Maltese islands on their world tour to find the most romantic wedding and honeymoon destinations.

Mark and Denise Duffield-Thomas won the Ultimate Job in the World competition organised by Irish travel company Runaway Bride and Groom (www.runawaybrideandgroom.com), which attracted more than 30,000 applicants from would-be honeymoon testers across the world.

Their “job” requires a daily blog as well as videos about each country they visit. Sipping champagne, romantic walks on the beach and long sunset dinners are compulsory. So far they have visited New York, Kenya, Mauritius, Zanzibar, London and Ireland.

Newly married Mark and Denise, from the UK and Australia are now in Malta to test out several luxury honeymoon hotels, Catholic churches and civil ceremony venues.

“The trip has been amazing so far. We’ve seen some of the most romantic places in the world and we’re really enjoying the beauty of Malta and the fantastic weather,” they said.

“Malta has so much to offer overseas couples. There are so many beautiful wedding venues to choose from and the hospitality is incredible”.

The Honeymoon Testers are also using their time in Malta to add to their Guinness World Record attempt to become the most married couple in the world. They have 83 vow renewals to beat which must meet a certain criteria set by the Guinness World Records.

They have done 26 renewals around the world so far, including a ceremony with a Masai tribe in Kenya, top of a lighthouse in Ireland, on the London Eye, on the beaches of Zanzibar and Mauritius and now around the sights of Malta.

They will be staying at the Corinthia Hotel and Radisson Blue, both in St George’s Bay. They will renew their vows in each location, as well as other romantic spots in Malta.

Denise and Mark leave Malta on the 14th July 2010 for their next mystery location.
