Gas cylinders production

My wife was recently told by the local gas distributor that the supplier is no longer producing 15 kilogram gas cylinders. On making inquiries with the supply company, I was verbally informed that the bottling of this size of cylinder has been stopped...

My wife was recently told by the local gas distributor that the supplier is no longer producing 15 kilogram gas cylinders. On making inquiries with the supply company, I was verbally informed that the bottling of this size of cylinder has been stopped as a result of some directive. (Could it be an EU Directive?)

I should be glad if somebody enlightens me as to the reason why it has been decided to stop producing the 15 kilogram cylinder, which had been in use for many years.

This size is convenient for most domestic users of bottled gas.
