Four young men from Swieqi were this morning conditionally discharged after pleading guilty to handbag thefts.

John Chircop, 20, Stefan Vassallo, 19, and a 15-year-old were charged with stealing a handbag belonging to Giulia and Silvia Bianchi.

Its contents were worth not more than €2,329.37. The three men returned the goods when they were apprehended.

Mr Vassallo, the 15-year-old and a 14-year-old were charged with stealing a handbag to the detriment of Goril Synnove Johansen

The 14-year-old was charged with holding stolen goods.

Mr Vassallo and Mr Chircop were conditionally discharged for 18 months while the 15- and 14-year-olds were conditionally discharged for 12 months.
