Pamplona bulls gore two, injure others
Bulls gored an Irishman and a Spaniard today, the second day of Pamplona's famous bull run which left five other people injured, officials said.
The 43-year-old man from Ireland was gored through his left leg while the 21-year-old Spaniard was gored in the chest. Both were being treated in hospital, the officials said. An Israeli and an American were among the injured.
The traditional bull run starts daily at 8:00 am along an 825-metre (2,706-foot) course during the nine-day festival which opened Wednesday and ends on July 12.
An 18-year-old Australian from Melbourne and a 20-year-old Spaniard from the northern city of Saragossa were hurt on the first day. Officials said the Australian was still in hospital Thursday but no details were released about the extent of his injuries.
The bull run, popularised by Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises", involves runners trying to outrace six bulls released every day to run from their corral through the old town's narrow, cobbled stone streets.
The bull runs have claimed 15 lives since 1911 and each year dozens of runners are injured.
The festival also features a range of concerts, street parties and dances, and the revelers' nightly ritual of spraying each other with red wine.

It is a disgusting scene. I saw parts of the event on TVE. Its nothing less than the carnival in Gozo and worse. Two men one dressed as a bishop and the other one dressed as a cardinal blessing the crowd. A girl pulling up her top to show off her upper private parts and then jumping from an elevated stand onto the arms of a group of men.
It seems that whoever is injured by the bulls is looked upon as a hero. There was one injured man who was applauded by the crowd in the street as he was being transported to the ambulance.
Other injured persons were being interviewed by a journalist and these persons were basically very happy showing off their wounds while being treated by paramedics and felt so proud of their achievement!!!.
What a way to enjoy yourself at the expense of these poor bulls.
How sad to know that human beings can behave in this way.

I don't know you but in my opinion this is an uncivilised, out of date tradition , so is bull fighting.
The systematic teasing , bloodshed, torture and final execution of this being is utterly sadistic to say the least .
Is there anywhere else in the EU or around the globe where similar so called legal atrocities happen ..in the name of tradition ?.
Please enlighten me.
What if bulls could speak or cry loudly ...would it be the same .......????????????

What bad treatment is given to bulls at Pamplona when they set them free to roam the streets? And who is asking for anyone's sympathy and pity?? A little comparison might help: in Spain people show courage by teasing a powerful creature like a bull, in Malta they...well...they expose themselves to powerful noises cause by fireworks.

"The purpose of this event is the transport of the bulls [...] to the bullring where they would be killed in the evening."

I feel no pity for the injured humans.
But the bulls, yes, forced to carry out this barbaric ritual for the pleasure of male egos!
