Obituary

BARTOLO. On July 5, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALFRED of St Julians (ex-RAF and ex-Airmalta), aged 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Mary, his dear children Charles and his wife Sylvia and Anna and her husband Raymond, his grandsons Karl and Clifton, his brother Joe and his sister Doris, his in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 7.45 a.m. for St Julians parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.15 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Claire Monastery, St Julians, will be greatly appreciated. The family wishes to thank all the staff of Neurology Medical Ward for their dedication. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

DEIDUN. On June 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA CARMELA, from Rabat and residing at Birkirkara, aged 70, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Noel and his wife Doris, her granddaughter Celine, her brothers and sister, in laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for St Francis church, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

MICALLEF. On July 6, at Karin Grech Hospital, RICHARD of Birkirkara, aged 73, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and comforted by the Holy Rites. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved wife Maria, his sons Josef and his wife Claire and Jeffrey and his wife Claire, his grandchildren Angelo, Angele, Emma and Andrew, family and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Hospital today at 2 p.m. for St Mary parish church (knisja l-qadima), Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers are requested but donations to Dar tal-Kleru, Fleur-de-Lys, or Dar Sagra Familja, Żabbar, will be greatly appreciated. The family wish to thank all the staff of Ward M1, Karin Grech Hospital, and Ward 3, Mater Dei Hospital, for their care and dedication. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

ZAMMIT. On July 6, JOSEPHINE, née Cachia, aged 87, widow of Joseph, passed away peacefully at Apap Institute, surrounded by her family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her dear children, Walter and his wife Nadia, Alex and his wife Joanna, Jennifer and her husband John, Simone, Joseph and his wife Luana, John and his wife Theresa, her beloved grandchildren Mark and his wife Claudine, Angela and her husband David, Matthew and his wife Sarah, Luana, Chris, Nicky, Thomas, Zach, Jessica and Benjamin, and her great-grandchildren, Max, Emily, Ella and Kim, her sister Maria, brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. The funeral cortege leaves Apap Institute, Sta Venera, tomorrow for St Gregory's parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment in the Zammit family chapel at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Apap Institute and the Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be greatly appreciated. Special thanks go to the dedicated sisters and staff at Apap Institute. From 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in parts of Farinal and Ħtajriet streets, Parjan and Bonnijiet streets and the surrounding area in Mosta.

The following localities will experience power cuts tomorrow:

From 7.30 a.m. to noon in parts of Sir Patrick Stuart, Sir Charles Cameron and Xatt streets in Gżira.

From 8 a.m. to noon in Ħas-Saptan Street, the Tal-Ġiebja and Ta' Gandolli areas in Għaxaq.

Secular music

The New Choral Singers, under the direction of Robert Calleja, will be presenting Songs for Summer, a concert of secular music, at the courtyard of the President's Palace, Valletta, on July 18 at 9 p.m. The concert forms part of the Malta Arts Festival.

Tickets are available through the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, Casa Gaspe, 230, Republic Street, Valletta between 9 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.

Victoria concert

The Gaulitanus Choir will be presenting a concert entitled Another Night With The Musical Theatre at the Citadel Granaries, Victoria, on Friday at 9 p.m. The concert forms part of the Gran Castello Summer Nights, organised by the Gozo Cultural Office. Entrance is free.

University Q & A

An informal student question-and-answer session will be held by the University's Faculty of Information and Communication Technology on July 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Campus' Common Room.
