HSBC hold-up arraignments today

The police are expected to make the first arraignments today in connection with the failed hold-up on the HSBC Centre in Qormi.

The arraignments will be made exactly one week after the hold-up was foiled in a dramatic shoot-out in Mill Street, outside the bank operations centre.

Sources said that four men were under arrest, but they may not all be arraigned today.

One of the robbers was hit twice and was arrested when he sought medical attention. Intensive police investigations have since yielded a caravan and a car used by the men.

The four are well-known to the police and had been investigated in relation to drug trafficking.
