Over the weekend, Marsa played two games against new touring team Lancing Manor.
On Saturday, the Marsa team batted first and were in trouble, losing two quick wickets for 10 runs. Sarfraz Ali then steadied the batting, making 25 runs and Mark G. Sacco 23.
The best innings came from Derek Ali who made 49 runs, including four fours. Mike Caruana and Will Nicholls both made 16.
The home side totalled 179 runs from their 40 overs.
The main wicket takers for Lancing were Steve Luckhurst and Nick Brown who both took three. Neil Reynolds chipped in with two.
In reply, the visitors fell short by 20 runs. Dave Smith top scored with 31 runs. Andrew Ferguson and Nick Brown both made 15 runs while Chris Salt scored 13.
For Marsa, Kevin Krishna was the main wicket taker with three while Sarfraz Ali took two.
On Sunday, the home team batted first again. New player Simon Mayeri opened the innings and made 55 runs from 49 balls including four fours. Bikram Arora, also playing in his first game for the home team, scored 28 from 15 balls, including two fours and two sixes.
Nowell Khosla played a delightful innings and scored a century, including six fours and four sixes. The Marsa team totalled 251 runs. Andy Livermore was the main wicket taker for Lancing with two.
Lancing Manor's reply was a better score than the day before but still fell short by 41 runs. Neil Reynolds scored 29 runs, Livermore 32, Dave Smith 29, Owen Voice 39 not out and Chris Salt 28 not out.
For Marsa, Ronnie Sacco was the main wicket taker with two.
Marsa won the series 2-0.
Today, the Marsa team will take on Stockport Grammar School in a twenty over game starting at 4 p.m.
On Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, the two teams will play forty over games, all starting at 10.30 a.m.
