A 21-year-old Spaniard, Jon Jabier Sanchez, was today handed a one-month jail term suspended for a year and had his driving licence revoked for a week after admitting drink-driving.

He was tested by the police on Sunday night following a collision in St Julians. The police found 51/47mg of alcohol, which was above the limit allowed by law.

He also admitted before a magistrate to slightly damaging a Toyota Corolla.

The Spaniard, who is in Malta on holiday, is due to return home this week.
