Archaeological finds found during excavations in Gozo's Mġarr ix-Xini valley will be displayed in a museum to be built nearby, Parliamentary Secretary of local councils Chris Said said yesterday.

Dr Said was speaking during a visit to Għar ix-Xiħ, limits of Xewkija, that forms part of the area being excavated as part of a project aimed at turning the valley into a regional park.

Apart from the museum to display the excavation's findings, there will also be an interpretation centre where tourists can learn about the valley before visiting it.

This forms part of a project carried out by the Xewkija and Sannat councils with the help of funds obtained though a government scheme aimed at encouraging projects in small villages, Dr Said said.

Dr Said added that 15 projects would be carried out through this fund at a cost of €237,000.
