A man who has been admitted to Mater Dei Hospital with bullet wounds in his leg and jaw is being investigated by the police on suspicion that he was involved in the foiled hold-up at HSBC Centre on Wednesday evening, sources said.
The sources said the man appeared to have initially sought assistance in a private clinic, where he was found by the police.
They said the police have also made other arrests in connection with the case.
Police sources would not give information on the case other to confirm that 'progress' had been made.
Five armed men tried to hold up the banking centre but their efforts were foiled when a police patrol was alerted and a shootout ensued in Mill Street as the would-me robbers made their getaway.
