June was slightly cooler than average

With a mean air temperature of 22.9°C, June was slightly cooler than the climate average for the month, the Meteorological Office said.

The temperature, it said, was 0.1°C less than the climate norm.

The warmest June was that of 2003 with a mean temperature of 26.1°C, the coolest of 1933 with 20.9°C.

The lowest minimum temperature last June was 16°C and this was recorded on June 2 and 26. The coolest June night since 1923 was that of June 7, 1975 with a low of 12.6°C.

June had an average of 11 hours of sunshine a day, which is normal for this time of the year.
