The Prime Minister expected Maltese and Gozitan families who had been complaining about the cost of medicine for years to believe that it was finally taking action, following years of procrastination, the Labour Party said.
The party’s spokesmen on social policy and health, Michael Farrugia and Anthony Zammit, respectively, said in a statement that eight medicines in today’s list were also in a similar one in September 2007 when the government had said that the Ministry for Competitiveness and would be monitoring these medicines the prices of which should also be lowered in the coming weeks.
Nothing had then been done.
Moreover, although there were hundreds of medicines on the market, only 62 were being mentioned.
At a time when the government had increased the utility rates 2.5 times over, the government was not credible in the fight against the rising cost of living, they said.
