I would like to congratulate the Ministry of Health under Joe Cassar, and the Career Guidance Unit within the Ministry of Education for the "joint initiative" they are planning - to introduce 86 fourth formers from various local secondary schools to a four-day experience at Mater Dei Hospital. Indeed, it is only by coming in close contact with various health professionals at work in hospital that these teenagers will discover the beauty and rewards of a career in the medical sector. The great shortage of nurses and other paramedical staff that exists in our hospitals can only be remedied through initiatives such as this joint venture.
