New maintenance centre in Luqa

Malta continues to make strong inroads in the aviation sector with the opening of an executive plane maintenance centre.

MCM Maintenance Centre Malta, which was inaugurated last Friday by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, is certified to service small planes and jets.

"This operation is a welcome addition to the fast-growing aviation maintenance cluster present in Malta," Dr Gonzi said at the launch.

"This is yet another show of confidence in Malta's potential and in its workers. MCM's presence here in Malta will in fact complement a strong and growing aviation cluster. MCM joins other prestigious names in the sector such as Lufthansa Technik, SR Technics and Medavia."

The facility in Luqa provides line maintenance of the airframe, powerplant and avionics, an extensive spare-part service and airworthiness reviews.
