The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce is holding its summer art courses from July. Courses are held at Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta, once a week.
The courses are held between 8.30 and 11.30 a.m. The only course that is being held in the evening is the portrait/figure drawing and painting - to be held on Thursdays at 5.30 p.m.
Each course will run over nine three-hour sessions. Anyone over six can apply. Courses are intended for pensioners, adults and children. The courses include art, art 50+, arts and crafts, clay sculpture, egg art, floral art, manga art, portrait/figure drawing and painting, and stone sculpture.
All courses cost €38, except for the portrait/figure drawing and painting which is €70 for nine sessions.
The society is also holding music courses this summer from Monday to Saturday, each course running over nine sessions.
The morning sessions are held once a week between 8.30 and 11.30 a.m. For those who choose the Thursday session, this is held between 2 and 8 p.m. Music courses will be 45 minutes to an hour long.
Crafts courses will also be held once a week, between 8.30 and 11.30 a.m. The courses include beading, bridal bouquets, cake decorating, card-making, cottage crafts, crib-building, crochet, dress-making and cutting out, embroidery, gold embroidery, ganutell, glass-painting, home improvement, huck weaving, knitting, lace-making, needlework, parchment crafts, plastic canvas, ribbon work, soft furnishings, tailoring and woodcarving. All courses cost €38.
