A 33-year-old from Mali was this afternoon charged with the murder of 30-year-old Adame Diabate from the Ivory Coast.

Mr Diabate had been found partially buried in a field in Hal Far on June 6.

Fodie Keita, who resides at the Hal Far open centre, pleaded not guilty to killing Mr Diabate, hiding his body, being in possession of a firearm and stealing Mr Diabate’s mobile phone.

There was no request for bail but Mr Keita’s legal aid lawyer requested that the accused is kept at Mount Carmel because he suffered from suicidal tendencies.

The prosecution agreed and the court acceded to the request.
