Maltese squad announced

Young Maltese athletes will be participating in the 62nd FISEC Games, to be staged in Tours, France between July 5-11. Details about this year's Games were given during a meeting the FISEC Malta Committee organised for the selected athletes, their parents and coaches.

In his introductory speech, Bro. Martin Borg, chairman of FISEC Malta, said the Maltese Executive Committee has continued to work hard to give the Maltese athletes the opportunity to gain international experience in the FISEC Games.

Bro. Borg conveyed his gratitude to the Kunsill Malti għall-Isport for their financial backing as well as Air Malta and EuroSport for their support.

With Malta having successfully organised the FISEC Games several times in the past, Bro. Borg said his committee is in favour of the White Rocks Sports Village project unveiled recently by the government.

"This project will allow Maltese athletes to train and compete in new, top-level facilities," Bro. Borg said. "Apart from this, a sports village would surely help Maltese organisations like ours who, from time to time, hold international competitions in Malta with the participation of over 1,000 athletes."
