Gozo College Nadur Primary School has won the international Green Flag Award for promoting environmental and sustainable development education among its students.

The school's EkoSkola committee, made up of students, staff and the community, strives to promote environmentally sound and healthy habits for all the school.

The eco-schools programme was launched in Malta in 2002 by Nature Trust (Malta) as the island's representative of the international Foundation for Environmental Education.

From six schools in 2002, the programme is now running in more than 100 across Malta and Gozo, making it one of the biggest and most successful environmental programmes. Its stated aim is to empower students and ensure the islands will be home to more responsible citizens in the future.
