Summer Wine Festival opens tomorrow

The four-day Marsovin summer wine festival opens tomorrow at Hastings Gardens, Valletta.

The festival, now in its third year, promotes Marsovin wines and culture from a number of Mediterranean countries.

This year's edition will have sections representing Italy, Malta, Spain and Morocco. Every area will host its own musicians playing and performing different styles of music and dance.

The event with feature a myriad of professional musicians, Flamenco dancers, live bands, chill out music and one of Malta’s leading groups, Tribali, who will be performing an improvised jam accompanied by a professional belly dancer.

Big screen TV will be available for those who wish to follow the World Cup.

Catering will be provided by a number of restaurants. Merisi, will be offering freshly made pizza on site and a variety of pasta; The Chef restaurant will be offering a variety of Moroccan style dishes; Salvino’s will be serving suckling pig and other Maltese specialities; Chukkas Grill will be offering a variety of meats freshly grilled; Cater Essence will be offering a delicious variety of freshly baked cakes and pastries.

The standard entrance fee of €5 entitles visitors to the festival wine glass and a €2 token which can be redeemed for up to four tasters, or one or two wine glasses.

A€10 entrance fee includes a premium festival wine glass and €10 worth of wine tokens, with which one can either taste up to 20 different wines or drink a selection of wines by the glass or by the bottle.

Gates open at 8 p.m.
