DEGUARA. On June 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, CARMELA, aged 85, widow of Francis, passed away peacefully after a short illness surrounded by her beloved daughters. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children Anna, Louisa, Juliana, Francesca and their respective spouses, her grandchildren Reine, Bradley, Melissa, Kristina and Greg, and her great-granddaughter Mia, all her family and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. MELI. On June 20, 2010 at Betanja Home, Msida, Sr Antonia of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, of Floriana, aged 82, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn, her loss the Franciscan Sisters' Community, her brother Dominic and his wife Mary, Josephine, the widow of her late brother Carmel, nephews and nieces, especially Thérese and her husband Carmel, Stephen and Anne Marie, Marion and James, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Betanja Home, Msida, today at 2.15 p.m. for St Francis church, Msida where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Missions of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus will be greatly appreciated. SPITERI. On June 21, at home, GRACE née Muscat, aged 81, widow of Joseph, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children, Anton, Josette, Margaret and Doreen, their spouses, her grandchildren, her sisters, in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves her residence today at 2 p.m. for St Helen Basilica, Birkirkara, where a mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at the Burmarrad cemetery. VASSALLO. On June 19, at Casa Arkati, LUCIA née Pizzuto, aged 93, of Valletta, widow of Carmelo, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Josette and her husband George Fabri, her brother Silvio Pizzuto and his wife Jane, her sister Polly wife of Carmel Bruno, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at 2 p.m. at St Augustine parish church, Valletta, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. Bonfire in Għargħur

A traditional evening will be organised on Friday by the Għargħur local council, St Bartholomew Philharmonic Society and the Parochial Feast Committee in the village square to mark the feast of St John.

Actors will be dressed in traditional attire, an edict will be read out and a bonfire will be lit. Traditional Maltese food will be on offer. The activity starts at 6.30 p.m.
