Management and employees of St James Hospital recently presented a €500 donation towards Sunflower Month, organised by the Malta Hospice Movement.

The presentation was made by Frederick Attard, the hospital's marketing manager, and Michelle Schembri, executive secretary, who represented St James Hospital employees.

"At St James Hospital we see cancer patients who require treatment. Therefore, we are well aware of the services the Hospice Movement offers to these patients for free through a dedicated team of professionals and a brigade of volunteers. We encourage other firms to follow suit and help this worthy cause," Mr Attard said.

Bernadette Briffa, volunteer services manager, received the donation and thanked Mr Attard and Ms Schembri on behalf of the hospice.

She said such examples of solidarity from employees and management with the Sunflower Campaign were most welcome. They serve as a source of encouragement to press forward with current and future projects.

The palliative and end of life services offered by the movement are mainly sustained through local donations.
