The vuvuzela has given the sound of the World Cup a new meaning.

Fans the world over, including in Malta, have complained over the one note producing instrument, and many have resorted to watching the games with the sound of their television set turned to mute.

The deafening horn is being blown frantically throughout the matches, sparking calls for the instrument to be banned during the games.

But it could have been worse.
