The latest controversy regarding the receiving of the Holy Eucharist by separated people living with partners leads me to ask some questions which I would like someone in the ecclesiastical hierarchy to answer.

If there is a separated teacher living with a partner, would he or she be employed by Church schools? What is the position of the Church on this?

My second question, which is not connected to the first, is: why are priests who decide to marry (and leave the priesthood) sidelined by the same Church they had served? I am told they are not allowed to teach Religion in Church schools, cannot read lessons in church or be a lay minister of Communion. Why are they discriminated against by the same Church that teaches love, tolerance and acceptance?
