Joseph Compagno, 24 of Marsascala, has been jailed for 18 months after admitting to slightly injuring two police constables when he assaulted them while in possession of a knife and a metal bar. The incident happened in Balzan in November 2006.
He was also convicted of being drunk, threatening PC Stephen Mallia and PC Raymond Saliba , damaging a police car, failing to follow police orders and breaking the conditions of a previous court sentence.
The court also ordered him to pay damages.
