No need to make phone booths extinct
A total of 27 yellow telephone booths have been removed from Buġibba and Qawra sea fronts.
What if some of the booths were refurbished, painted and decorated with lights and placed along the seafront as tourist information booths? Each booth has four sides and could be used as four different notice boards. For example, the first side could be reserved for use of the local council, the second outlining places of interest, the third holding maps of hotels and shops while the fourth may be rented out for marketing purposes.
I would be glad to forward my idea in further detail to the Land Department or the Malta Tourism Authority and will start doing a little upgrade in our locality!

The Times of 8 June 2010 stated that those phone booths were occupying public land without a permit.

These booths, and Go's, were vandalized on many occasions. Whereas the latter ones were repaired, the former went from bad to worse, becoming a real eye-sore. The promenade looks much better without them. Now, please, finish the job be removing the remaining cables, etc.
