Six months for possession of drugs
A man found in possession of ecstasy, cannabis and LSD, has been jailed for six months and fined €468 after he admitted to police that he used the drugs.
Simon Deguara, 31, of Naxxar was arrested after the police followed a tip-off and searched his Ford Fiesta in August 2005. They found a bag of ecstasy pills, three portions of the drug LSD and some small pieces of cannabis resin.
Magistrate Lawrence Quintano found him guilty based on testimony of police officers who took part in the search and that of Mark Anthony Morales, who said he had bought cannabis from the accused.
The magistrate said that he found the possession of LSD and the sale of cannabis most worrying and jailed him.
Police Inspector Dennis Theuma prosecuted.

If the Law is really about defending the innocent, then according to BBC and its scientists, bar owners and anyone selling tobacco should have been arrested long time ago:

I really dont find it fair that these sentences have to come 5 yrs after the crime is commited. I m sure that in five years a person can learn from his mistakes, change and rehabilitate. So why put him back in such hostile environment and risking a relapse? I agree that one has to pay for the wrong he s done but the timing just isnt right.

I agree with Ms Cassar here. Being sent to prison for a crime committed 5 years ago may do him more wrong than right.

The magistrate was more worried about LSD and cannabis than xtc?
Maybe the magistrate needs a basic introductory course about drugs.

not only the magistrate....but the goverment and the police too. They have no clue about the differences in drugs.....from lethal to soft drugs! We do not even have an expert in this subject to advice the goverment! But at least we catch this young person for possesion and some drug mule coming through customs, while the big fish's pockets continue to get bigger and bigger!

I'll be more worrying with LSD and XTC than Cannabis!
Cannabis is listed as a soft drugs and no matter what the police states, Cannabis can never ever kill you! Harm you yes, but you can't die with.
XTC and LSD yes, they are both lethal (not in the same way tho).

There is no such thing as soft drugs. One can kill you instantly the other will keep you stupid for the rest of your life!
