The government is still considering what to do with 239,620 doses of the H1N1 vaccine which have remained unused.

Health Minister Joseph Cassar said that a total of 92,043 doses were taken last year and this year.

A final decision on the remaining doses would be taken on the basis of international information on risk factors.

He said the price for the purchase of the vaccine from GSK could not be made public, but the total cost was between

€2,500,000 and €3,000,000.

Meanwhile, a Health Ministry spokesman told timesofmalta.com that the H1N1 situation was inactive across Europe but the World Health Organisation still regarded the global situation as in a state of pandemic.

The last case in Malta was on February 19. There were a total of 912 confirmed cases in Malta.
