Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs, coordinated locally by Koperattivi Malta, the Federation of Maltese Cooperatives, has not been effected by the freezing of funds for Erasmus projects coordinated by the EUPU, the federation said.

It said in a statement that a number of entrepreneurs interested in furthering their entrepreneurial skills to possibly set up their own business were successfully taking up the programme, which enables them to spend time with an organisation in another EU country.

This helps improve their know-how and fosters cross-border transfer of knowledge and experience between entrepreneurs.

This project is addressed towards New Entrepreneurs (NEs) who want to go abroad to any one of the other 26 EU countries to learn from experienced entrepreneurs.

Candidates accepted for participation will be granted a substantial proportion of the expenses required to cover their travelling and accommodation costs.

Experienced entrepreneurs (HEs) interested in hosting new entrepreneurs, were also invited to participate for an opportunity to share their experience and benefit from hands-on contribution which an NE from another EU country would make to their business.

The project pays particular attention to creating a network among participants, encouraging the creation of long-lasting partnerships, while supporting those who wished to create a cross-border enterprise and enhance the internationalisation of Maltese SMEs.
