Correspondence relating to Anarchy In Paceville (May 29) says a few things about the prevailing situation. There are a hundred other points that the correspondents did not mention and I am not able to mention for lack of space.
The fact is that for many years I, as well as friends, have had meetings with ministers, Commissioners of Police and their assistants about the situation in Paceville.
All these authorities have told us "Yes, yes, yes" when we asked for help in bringing back law and order to our streets. However, they only meant "No, no, no". They never did anything permanent to protect the place and its residents.
The funniest thing is that laws exist but they are not upheld. Why?
Paceville will soon have its very own Executive Committee and I am positive that the committee members will be doing more than their call of duty to put things right and will be calling on the authorities to do likewise.
However, it is earnestly hoped that now with an executive committee legally elected the authorities will lend them their ears and be inclined to help in stamping out the reigning lawlessness that exists today.
