Park Ji-sung believes South Korea can spring a major surprise when they meet Argentina in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The Taeguk Warriors made the ideal start to their Group B campaign with a 2-0 win over 2004 European champions Greece in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

It was a comfortable victory for Huh Jung-moo's side and will give them confidence of claiming a place in the knock-out stage for the first time since the 2002 World Cup, which South Korea co-hosted with Japan.

A positive result against Argentina would put them firmly on course for a place in the last 16 and though Park knows it will not be easy against Diego Maradona's side, the Manchester United midfielder refuses to rule out the chance of an upset.

"Argentina are the strongest side in the group and could be finalists But the unexpected can always happen. We're looking forward to it," said the 29-year-old on the Asian Football Confederation's official website.

Coach Huh, meanwhile, believes it is vital his players go into the game with a positive mentality.

"No matter how strong they are if we do what we have to do we can manage to grow," he said. "Just because it's Argentina one shouldn't be defeatist."
