The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) recently organised the job shadowing and 'Choice' awards' ceremony at The Hilton, St Julian's.
The Job Shadowing programme was held for the first time this year and consisted of a one-week placement in a local hotel for Form 4 students.
Some 87 students from Maria Regina College and 24 students attending St Theresa College were recognised for their participation in this programme.
This initiative is linked to the MTA's 'Choice' programme, now in its eighth year, where people working in the tourism industry are invited to speak to students about the many varied and dynamic careers in the sector.
The programme also includes a tourism competition with prizes for the top eight students. The winner of the competition was Anthony Deguara from Naxxar Boys Secondary School, Maria Regina College. The prize is a one-week study holiday in Istanbul, Turkey, sponsored by Air Malta and The Hilton, Malta.
The awards ceremony concluded with an address by Tourism Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco.
