What's happening at Magħtab, or should I say Twin Peaks? I thought there would be no more rubbish dumped there.

Looking seaward from the Coast Road one sees the blue water and the waves crashing onto the clean rocks, breaking into a white mass - nature at its best. Then turn your head 180 degrees or follow your nose and you will see man's attempt at disposing of his rubbish. Rubbish trucks are tipping their loads in full sight of locals and tourists and in the same area where landscaping has been attempted, with trees planted on a ridge, below which the ground is scattered with plastic sheeting etc.

I actually heard a tourist asking whether Magħtab was an extinct volcano! No, it's a man-made mountain of rubbish but with a heart just as dangerous. So much of Malta's rubbish could be sorted and recycled but look at most of the hotels - they are not recycling. I do but does anyone in my street recycle? Looking at the bags split open by the cats, I don't think so.

Come on government, get a grip and get the nation recycling
