It's no wonder old people and persons with special needs are afraid of using pavements, particularly in the Buġibba area. I have seen many people risking life and limb walking in the streets rather than using the so-called pavements.
These seem to cater specifically for garage owners who should be using moveable ramps rather than have the pavement turned into a wide ramp. It's so frustrating to have to go up and down while walking on these pavements and very dangerous at night time.
The local councils are responsible for these badly constructed pavements as they are for those premises which are supposed to be garages and they are not. Some are just stores or used to keep animals.
The amount of parking places in every town and village that cannot be used because of these so-called garages will certainly alleviate the shortages we have if the local councils take appropriate steps rather than mark the space in front of them as reserved for the owner.
