Up to the end of May this year the Housing Authority had received a total of 739 applications from single parents for alternative accommodation. Family Affairs Minister Dolores Cristina, answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Gino Cauchi, said the applications had been received over a number of years and the authority was analysing whether the applicants had since lost interest in such alternative accommodation.

The authority was regularly allocating accommodation, but stock varied from time to time.
